Scientific Background: PKN2 is a protein-serine/threonine kinase of the AGC group and PKN family. It is a PKC-related protein-kinase that is also a Rho/Rac effector protein. It has been linked to the regulation of a wide range of cellular processes, including transcription, cell cycle progression, actin cytoskeleton assembly, cell migration and adhesion, and tumour cell invasion. PKN2 is activated by lipids, particularly cardiolipin and to a lesser extent by other acidic phospholipids and unsaturated fatty acids. Phosphorylation at T816 (activation loop of the kinase domain) and T958 (turn motif) increases phosphotransferase activity.
