Scientific Background: PRKX (PKX1) is a protein-serine/threonine kinase of the AGC group and PKA family. It can control cAMP signalling, cell differentiation, epithelial morphogenesis, nephrogenesis, and angiogenesis. Downstream targets of PRKX can include SMAD6, CREB, and PKD1. SMAD6 phosphorylation mediates differentiation of myeloid cells.
