Peptide Name: Bmx (37-43) pY40

Product Use: Services as a blocking peptide for use with the Bmx-Y40 rabbit polyclonal antibody (Cat. No.: AB-PK545) that is also available from Kinexus. This phosphopeptide may also be useful as a substrate for screening the phosphatase activity of protein phosphatases. The peptide sequence is located in the PH domain domain. Y40 phosphorylation stimulates phosphotransferase activity and regulates cell motility, cytoskeletal reorganization, intracellular location, and induces interaction with FAK.

Scientific Background: Bmx (Etk) is a protein-tyrosine kinase of the TK group and Tec family. It is a non-receptor kinase involved in actin reorganization, and in cell proliferation, survival, apoptosis, and cell adhesion in response to growth factors and interleukins. Another key functional role of Bmx is in TNF-alpha induced angiogenesis. Phosphorylation at Y566 by autocatalysis or by the protein-tyrosine kinase Src leads to activation and is required for STAT3 phosphorylation by Bmx. Src-induced Bmx phosphorylation could be almost completely inhibited with a Y566F mutation. Bmx has been demonstrated to prevent apoptosis of nasopharyngeal carcinomas.
