Peptide Name: LTK (669-675) pY672

Product Use: Services as a blocking peptide for use with the LTK-pY672 rabbit polyclonal antibody (Cat. No.: AB-PK687) that is also available from Kinexus. This phosphopeptide may also be useful as a substrate for screening the phosphatase activity of protein phosphatases. The peptide sequence is located in the protein kinase catalytic domain activation T-loop between subdomains VII and VIII. This is the major in vivo phosphorylation site in LTK. Y672 is predicted to be stimulatory for phosphotransferase activity.

Scientific Background: LTK is a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase of the TK group and Alk family. The exact function of this protein is not known. However, studies with chimeric proteins (replacing its extracellular region with that of several known growth factor receptors, such as EGFR and CSFIR) demonstrate its ability to promote growth and specifically neurite outgrowth, and cell survival via activation of the PI3 kinase pathway. It is involved in regulation of the secretory pathway involving endoplasmic reticulum (ER) export sites (ERESs) and ER to Golgi transport.
