Peptide Name: EEF2 (53-60) pT57

Product Use: Services as a blocking peptide for use with the EEF2-pT57 rabbit polyclonal antibody (Cat. No.: AB-PN555) that is also available from Kinexus. This phosphopeptide may also be useful as a substrate for screening the phosphatase activity of protein phosphatases. The peptide sequence is located in the N-terminal portion of the protein. One of the major in vivo phosphorylation sites in EEF2. The effect of its phosphorylation is unclear.

Related Product 1: EEF2 - pT57 phosphosite-specific antibody (Cat. No.: AB-PN555)

Scientific Background: EEF2 catalyzes the GTP-dependent ribosomal translocation step during translation elongation in protein synthesis. During this step, the ribosome changes from the pre-translocational (PRE) to the post-translocational (POST) state as the newly formed A-site-bound peptidyl-tRNA and P-site-bound deacylated tRNA move to the P and E sites, respectively. It catalyzes the coordinated movement of the two tRNA molecules, the mRNA and conformational changes in the ribosome.
