Peptide Name: PCYT1A (338-346) pT342+pS343

Product Use: Services as a blocking peptide for use with the PCYT1A-pT342+pS343 rabbit polyclonal antibody (Cat. No.: AB-PN547) that is also available from Kinexus. This phosphopeptide may also be useful as a substrate for screening the phosphatase activity of protein phosphatases. The peptide sequence is located near the C-terminus of the protein. These are among the main in vivo phosphorylation sites in PCYT1A. The effect of its phosphorylation is unclear.

Scientific Background: PCYT1A is the rate limiting enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway for phosphatidylcholine. It catalyzes the reaction: CTP + phosphocholine = diphosphate + CDP-choline. It is an ambiquitous enzyme that resides in the cytoplasm of cells in an inactive form. Diacylglycerol, acidic phospholipids and fatty acids drive the binding of PCYT1A to the endoplasmic reticulum and stimulation of its catalytic activity.
