Peptide Name: LOK (188-194) pS191

Product Use: This phosphopeptide may be useful as a substrate for screening the phosphatase activity of protein phosphatases. The peptide sequence is located in the protein kinase catalytic domain activation T loop region between subdomains VII and VIII. S191 phosphorylation is predicted to be stimulatory for phosphotransferase activity.

Scientific Background: LOK (STK10) is a protein-serine/threonine kinase of the STE group and STE20 family. It can control lymphocyte migration via its phosphotransferase activity. LOK has been shown to phosphorylate MSN and has been implicated in phosphorylating Plk1. LOK can negatively regulate MEKK1/MAP3K1, and may also mediate cell cycle progression. A K65I mutation in LOK seen with Testicular germ cell tumour (TGCT) can induce loss of kinase phosphotransferase activity.
