Peptide Name: JNK2 (180-186) pT183+pT185

Product Use: This phosphopeptide may be useful as a substrate for screening the phosphatase activity of protein phosphatases and for epitope mapping of phosphosite-specific antibodies. The peptide sequence is located in the protein kinase catalytic domain activation T-loop between subdomains VII and VIII. T183 and Y185 phosphorylation stimulate phosphotransferase activity.

Scientific Background: JNK2 (MAPK9) is a protein-serine/threonine kinase of the CMGC group and MAPK family. It is involved in the control of cell differentiation, transformation, migration, proliferation, and programmed cell death in response to stress and cytokines. It has also been implicated in preventing ubiquitination of p53.Phosphorylation of T183 and Y185 by either of two dual specificity kinases, MAP2K4 and MAP2K7, increases phosphotransferase activity. Phosphorylation of S129 also increases phosphotransferase activity. It is nhibited by dual specificity phosphatases, such as DUSP1, which target the T183 and Y185 activatory phosphorylation sites. JNK2 has been shown, in a cancer cell line to have a role in breast cancer cell motility.
